Apartment Design at The Landing of Brighton in Rochester, NY

According to the AARP, 75% of older adults want to age in place. However, that's not always possible, and for many seniors, it's almost inevitable that they have to move elsewhere in the future.

For many, a senior living community is ideal, as you'll get your own living space. Plus, you'll enjoy amenities and a community filled with people your own age. And in assisted living, you'll get help with daily tasks too.

Do you now want to find out more about senior living at The Landing of Brighton? Then read on to see how our apartment design in Rochester, NY, helps residents live comfortably and safely.

Five Spacious Floor Plans

We have four assisted living floor plans, which means you'll have plenty of options. They are:

  • Mulberry (300-330 sq ft): Suite, 1 bathroom
  • Norway Maple (460 sq ft): 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom
  • Red Maple (490-540 sq ft): 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom
  • Silver Maple (600-670 sq ft): 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom

As for memory care layouts, there's just one at the moment. It's called White Ash, and it spans 280-300 sq ft. You'll get a suite and 1 bathroom with this floor plan.

As you can see, even the smallest floor plan gives you ample space for you and all your decor, which you're free to bring with you! We want you to feel right at home, so you can put up your paintings, frame your pictures, and use your cozy pieces of furniture.

Great Accessibility

No matter which floor plan you choose, you're guaranteed to get accessible senior housing. While a typical house may seem comfortable and safe at first, there may be more issues than you realize.

For example, there are steep flights of stairs to climb and high cabinets that are just out of reach. There are also rooms with layouts that make it difficult to maneuver, which can lead to more trips and falls.

This is concerning, as according to the CDC, falls are the leading cause of injury for adults 65 and older.

Here are the ways we make it nice and safe for our residents.

The Layout Itself

We've carefully thought out our apartment layouts to make getting around easier for you. Typically, the bathrooms and kitchenettes are right next to each other, so all the appliances and other pieces of hardware are gathered in one spot.

This leaves either the suite or the bedroom and the living room. In any case, you'll usually get a large open space (it's separated into two if you have a living room and bedroom).

This design eliminates small and tight spaces, and as a result, this reduces your fall risk. It's also much easier to maneuver with a wheelchair or walker.

And an added benefit is that it's much easier for you to arrange your space just how you like it. There's more freedom and flexibility!

There's carpeting in some parts of the apartments, but don't worry about it being tough to walk across. It's just a thin layer that provides cushioning for your feet and sound dampening.

Bathroom Grab Bars

The bathroom can be a slippery place, especially after you've showered. If you have mobility issues, then you might be concerned about falling in this space.

You can have peace of mind knowing that, as part of our aging-friendly design, there are several grab bars in the bathrooms. There are a few around the toilet, as well as some in the shower cabinet itself.

Low Sinks

Whether you're washing your hands or prepping food, it can get tiring holding your arms over a high sink. We understand that fatigue can come easily, which is why we've designed our apartments to have low sinks.

With their sturdy tops, these sinks are easy to lean over on. Plus, we've specifically kept the bottom empty so you can fit a wheelchair or walker in that space if needed.

Other Features of Our Floor Plans

You'll get lots of natural light in our apartments. There are large windows that let in sunshine, so you'll feel nice and cozy. Of course, there are window trimmings too, so you can control how much light comes in.

You'll also stay comfortable with climate control. You can dial the temperature up and down to your personal preferences.

If you like making your own food, then you'll be pleased to know that it's possible in our kitchenettes. All apartments come with a refrigerator and microwave.

As for storage space, there's lots of it. We've strategically placed storage solutions all around, such as cabinets on top of the kitchenette and shelves in the bathroom.

Fire Safety

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) says that in 2023, a home structure fire was reported every 95 seconds. Not only can these fires be harmful to your health, but they can also cause death and destruction.

We take your safety very seriously, which is why every apartment is equipped with fire alarms and sprinklers in all rooms.
